Through her program called “Roots & Shoots,” Goodall empowers young people to create change within their communities. CNN spoke with Goodall recently during a trip to South Africa, where she observed some of the projects local Johannesburg students are heading up as part of Roots & Shoots. Goodall: I think it’s really important, this exchange of information from the elders to the youngers. Goodall: When I began Roots & Shoots in Tanzania in 1991, it was because I was meeting young people then who had lost hope.

Rolex’s Perpetual Planet initiative has partnered with CNN to drive awareness and education around key sustainability issues and to inspire positive action. CNN —Renowned primatologist Jane Goodall turned 90 on Wednesday—and to mark the occasion, 90 female photographers have put their work up for sale for 90 days. The Jane Goodall Foundation, which works to protect chimpanzees and their habitat, will receive 60% of the proceeds. “Jane Goodall did more than just redefine our understanding of the relationship between humans and animals; she shattered barriers and opened doors for women everywhere,” she added. The British animal behaviorist is known for her enduring and exceptionally detailed research on the chimpanzees of Gombe Stream National Park.

And what would happen over the years was that these new entrants would get better, and better, and better until all of a sudden they’d taken over the industry. And any one leader launching one of these things might go, well, listen, we need to change. But we do need a way of distinguishing between change that lifts humans up and change that pushes people down. There is good change, and less good change, and bad change. And if leading is about making things better, then leading has to be about understanding what people need so that they can help you make things better.

LONDON, April 20 (Reuters) - Credit Suisse (CSGN.S) was accused on Thursday of having "learnt nothing" from the 2008 financial crisis on the first day of a trial at London's High Court over residential mortgage-backed securities. The Jersey-registered company said in court filings that it bought the notes because of Credit Suisse's "false and dishonest representations" about their value. Loreley's lawsuit, which was filed in 2018, long pre-dates Credit Suisse's takeover by its rival UBS (UBSG.S) last month. However, Credit Suisse argued in court filings that the settlement with the DOJ "makes no reference to dishonesty, fraud, knowing misrepresentation or anything of that kind". Its lawyer Patrick Goodall added that, if Loreley is correct, "then it is not merely Credit Suisse which was running a wholly dishonest business – many of the allegations made against Credit Suisse were matters which were replicated across the entire industry".
